If you’re not already familiar with the Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative, they are a small non-profit working to restore our native dryland forest. Their nature preserve in Waikoloa Village protects some of the most beautiful wiliwili trees on the island and they’re working to bring back the diverse forest that once widespread in West Hawai’i. WDFI has a volunteer program, they work with school groups and have an awesome after-school program that brings local kids out to the forest to learn, play and explore, outdoors!
